Have you ever felt like you didn’t know what was next? Or you felt uncertain of your future? Well, you definitely are not alone. We all have felt that way and it can feel so very crushing. You might stress over too many things, you might get anxious, or you might not know what to do. You might be interviewing for a job you have no idea if you’ll get it or not, or you might be single and not know what your future holds. You might be scared. Guess What! That’s okay.
It isn’t easy being a human. It especially isn’t easy being a Christ follower. Guess what though! God is going to take care of you no matter what. All you have to do is walk in his calling. That is easier said than done, because like I just mentioned we often don’t know what our next steps are going to be. If you are here today, not knowing what is next, here are three steps on how to Embrace The Unknown:
1. Trust in God’s Sovereignty
What is sovereignty? That’s a good question. Sovereignty is defined as supreme power or authority. That being said, we need to put our full trust in God’s power. His power is sufficient. Nothing is beyond his power and we can take heart in knowing he will take care of us. Surrender control to his power. Don’t try to do things on your own because that is when you will feel like you don’t know what to do. When you fully trust in his power, you can let go of fear and experience a peace only God can provide.
2. Pray for Guidance
This is the answer to everything. Prayer is so powerful so we need to implement it in our moment by moment lives. Praying once a day isn’t going to cut it. The only way to not let your future stress you and take control of your life is to pray constantly. When you pray, ask for his wisdom, guidance, and peace. He is the only one who can comfort you in this life.
3. Taking One Step at a Time
This is also so important. As humans, we tend to want to look ahead in our lives to what might be next. Whether that is a job, marriage, kids, etc. We tend to look ahead instead of focusing on the now. Slow down because if you don’t, life will pass you by and you will wonder where the time has gone. Focus on taking one step at a time. Look for the beauty in your day. How can you be successful today? It doesn’t have to be “How can you be successful in life?” One Step at a Time.
‘For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’ Jeremiah 29:11
